We have been searching high and low for style trends this season- as we jump straight into Q3, take a look at the latest in the industry!
1. “Summerween” and the Extended Selling Season
Halloween merchandising now begins as early as May, with major retailers like Target, Walmart, and Home Depot launching collections months ahead of October.
This shift has created a six-month selling season, allowing for better inventory management (less liability) and capturing early consumer enthusiasm. This works, as it is proving out that 47% of consumers start shopping before October, with 56% of 25–34-year-olds leading the charge.
2. Pop Culture Costumes Dominate
Trending costumes include Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce, Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter, Caitlin Clark, Wednesday Addams and K-POP Demon Hunters.
Retailers are responding with ready-made kits and accessories tailored to these viral inspirations. Look how quickly some of this product is able to make it to shelf!
3. Social Media-Driven Décor
Viral items like Costco’s 12-foot skeleton are shaping décor trends, often selling out early due to TikTok hype. Gen Z is heavily influenced by TikTok trends, especially for costumes and décor.
4. In-Store Experience Still Matters
Despite digital growth, consumers still enjoy immersive in-store experiences, with retailers like Spirit Halloween and Target creating themed environments for a fun shopping experience.
