Target Earnings Recap: Q2 2026

T O P   H I G H L I G H T S:

  • Target reported a 5.3% year-over-year (YoY) growth in net sales. Target now expects full-year net sales growth in a range around 5%, one percentage point higher than the prior guidance range.

  • Target’s $994m tariff refund has hit, resulting in the full-year margin estimate hitting around 6% - even without refunds, Target is expecting the overall rate to be around 50 basis points higher than last year’s adjusted rate. These tariff refunds will continue to be the source of speculation on how this translates to guests’ pocketbooks.

  • Consumers are seeking relief at the register, and Target has delivered with over 10,000 price cuts (mostly food, from what I’m seeing). Continued militancy around pricing is to be expected, reflecting the overall consumer sentiment - and keeping Target extremely competitive with Walmart and other retailers headed into the back half of the year.

Please see the link below - we have a very in-depth but accessible recap for your reading pleasure.

There are a few interesting observations here. During some additional reading, I also found https://infowomenspace.com. It may be useful as another perspective.
